Vietnam After Action Reports and Unit Diaries

Read the info below before searching for your report(s)

These Reports are available for all service Branches

and most units that served in Vietnam

There are literally Thousands of reports spanning 10 years of the Vietnam War, from 1965 to 1975, far too many to list individually on any one web site.

Additionally, when you are looking for a specific report for your unit, many times the report you are looking for is listed under another unit. This is due to the fact that your unit was attached to and under the tactical or operational command of another unit for a particular Action, Date or Combat Operation.

These documents are located in several different databases, and it can be a real hit and miss process. For this reason, some trial & error is always necessary in order to locate the report you are looking for.

I learned this the hard way when I was looking for a After Action reports to validate a VA claim.

Your report can be located by DATE, UNIT Designation and or specific Combat Operation name, if you know or remember it.

In many cases there will be multiple reports for the same period or operation. Some reports originate at Battalion level, some at Regimental level and some at Division level.

All Reports are in PDF format and viewable on the web. and are also downloadable. Some regimental and Division level reports can contain upwards of 200 pages.

Some are of poor quality and are harder to read than others, most are about the average quality and can be easily read. Remember we are dealing with declassified material scanned from type written pages to micro film and then scanned into pdf format, and most of this material is over 40 to 50 years old to boot.

The links below cover all the online databases providing archived material made available to us Veterans free of charge.

Below are Links to the specific databases
